Top it all off with wine and beverages, including microbrews from Lagunitas Brewing and Coors.

The Morro Bay Music Festival will take place June 5th, 2010, at 714 Embarcadero (across from Rose’s Landing) from 11am until 7pm.

The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association invites the public to the first installment of Concerts in the Plaza 2010! The Viper Six will kick it off with a live performance in the plaza on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. As you enjoy the music, treat yourself and your family to delicious food from vendors, as well as beer and wine from Firestone and Edna Valley.

Grand prize is a custom-painted Fender guitar and a case of award-winning Cass wines!

Don’t play guitar?  Come dressed as your favorite rock star to listen to the competition, enjoy Ted’s famous tacos, and sip on award-winning wines.

The preliminaries for the competition start at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 21st.  The finals will be held Saturday, May 22nd at 7 p.m.  The entry fee is $20.00.  Admission is free for spectators.  Must be 21 or over to attend or participate.

The Battle of the Bands is an all-ages shows! Doors open At 8:00 p.m. Free admission for ages 21 and older and just $5 for everyone else. The first band starts at 8:30 p.m. and the second band starts at 9:45 p.m. The order of the band’s start times will be announced the day of each show.

Years ago the staff at New Rock 107.3 wanted to find a way to promote local music. To not only talk about their shows but feature them on the air and spread the word about the amazing local sounds they were hearing. That’s when New Rock 107.3 created SLO and Dysfunctional, a program dedicated to promoting local rock.

Over the years New Rock 107.3 has aired over 70 local bands on the radio and handed out over 10,000 SLO and Dysfunctional CD’s. Over the last 7 years It has been amazing to see so many bands go from the garage, to the national stage.

Only one thing was missing from the SLO and Dysfunctional campaign, live shows. Last year New Rock 107.3 decided to do just that with the first ever New Rock 107.3 SLO and Dysfunctional Battle of the Bands. It was an enormous success filling the venue every week. This year the second battle will be held at Downtown Brew. The battle kicked off April 21st and is hosted by Downtown Brew and presented by Cabo Wabo Tequila and SKYY Vodka.

Congratulations to the following local bands who competed in this year’s Battle of the Bands and who were voted by New Rock 107.3’s listeners as being among the best local rock bands!

It has been almost 2 years since our last LIB together and not a day has gone by where we haven’t dreamt about the next adventure. We’re bursting with tons of new ideas and can barely contain our excitement. It’s finally right around the corner!

Together with all of our friends we will converge on a beautiful new location and transform it into a wonderland for the senses, once again capturing Lightning in a Bottle. Prepare to start the summer off right!!!

4 days and 3 nights of activities and entertainment including music, performances, inspiring art, yoga and meditation classes, sustainability workshops, clothing and craft vending, tasty organic foods, camping and much more!

This year’s Lightning in a Bottle will be home to an astounding array of musical acts and live performances, art installations and live art creations, workshops and speaker panels, and can you believe it…even more to be announced!

The LIB team prides itself on filling three performance stages with a wide variety of live and electronic musical acts and vaudevillian performances, as well as deploying unique intersections of artistic form and sustainable function to create stages that double as large-scale art installations.  Experience has taught us that top-level artistic and musical experiences are best enhanced by still more art!

Build it.  Bring it.  Be it!  We at the Do LaB delight in bringing heART to everything we create, and Lightning in a Bottle is our most favorite creation.  And we simply cannot put the ART in LIB without YOU!

Our roots are renegade, and we’d never stand in the way of anyone’s expression.  If you want to hang a painting or show a sculpture, just set it up in a tree and be kind to the tree.  Or build your own wall!  Want to host a tea party or lead a parade or rally a flash mob?  By all means…go big and make it so!  The goal is total art immersion and catching Lightning in a Bottle!

Pozo hosted the largest reggae festival in SLO county history in 2006 with Steel pulse headlining, their vibe is amazing and lead singer David Hinds is on another level. Truly one of the greatest and most amazing sounds in all of music, not just reggae.
Pulse will be returning to Pozo for their fourth show, and each show gets better and better.

Orgone playing and touring with Groundation and has a slot on one of the largest festivals in the world this summer hails from North Hollywood, Ca. Cali reggae at its finest!

Local boys Nada Rasta will be opening the show and have some SLO County fire to spread.

Come hear some of SLO’s most talented up and coming artists and bands from Modern Music Academy’s Professional Music Program, performing well loved covers and originals. The students (Age 16 – Mature) have been preparing for this show for weeks and will be graded on their performance. Come and raise the roof!

Modern Music Academy is home of Guitar Lab and the Professional Music Program, right here in San Luis Obispo. This boutique school opened in 2003 and specializes in Guitar training, song craft and Production. MMA has a unique relationship with the Academy of Contemporary Music in London, and through that partnership is offering one of a kind exciting programs here in SLO.

Serious musicians don’t have to go to LA to find a school that can help them in their music career.

Lake Piru is an amazing place to camp, hike, boat, fish and just have some plain ole’ fun. There is unlimited camping throughout the park, however, only 200 designated campsites will be available to festival goers that would like to camp next to their car, on the festival grounds. Should you require in-and-out access with your vehicle during the festival, you’ll need to park your car in the “day parking” section, not the festival grounds.
